چکیده
I t is a pleasure to welcome Aesthetic Surgery Journal's newest international affiliate society, the Dutch Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Esthetische Plastische Chirurgie (NVEPC)). The NVEPC joins our other seven international affiliates (representing Central America, South America, and Asia) and holds the distinction of being the first European society to partner with our Journal. The Netherlands is recognized throughout the world as a progressive country with a high degree of social tolerance. As one might expect, the practice of aesthetic plastic surgery is thriving. According to NVEPC President, B. van der Lei, MD, PhD, of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Medical Centre of Leeuwarden and private Hospital Heerenveen, there are approximately 220 plastic surgeons in Holland and 149 members (5% of which are candidate members) of the Dutch Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. All members of NVEPC have been trained in general surgery for at least 2 years, plastic surgery for 4 years, registered as a plastic surgeon for at least 3 years, and have provided documented continuing education and clinical experience in aesthetic surgery to qualify for membership. We look forward to showcasing the work of NVEPC members in ASJ and to actively exchanging clinical and scientific information with our Dutch colleagues.
